The mission of CollegeCounts is to help you and your family set up a manageable, successful college savings plan to help your children reach all their career goals. But we enjoy giving students a more direct boost as well.
In fact, our annual CollegeCounts Scholarship has awarded more than $1 million to Alabama high school students each of the last four years. In 2019, we are proud to have awarded a record scholarship payout of $1,274,000 to 195 students in 65 counties. Over the past seven years, our total scholarship awards have exceeded $6 million.
And we want your student to join that group.
If your child is currently a high school senior, or they’ll be a first-time college freshman beginning in the fall of 2020, they may be eligible for a $4,000 award to a four-year Alabama college or a $2,000 award to a two-year Alabama college. Each scholarship is a one-time award that is non-renewable and paid directly to the student’s college on a per-semester basis during the freshman year.
Here are the criteria your child will need to meet to be eligible:
- Must be a current high school senior, or a first-time college freshman beginning fall 2020
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be an Alabama resident
- Must be planning to enroll in an Alabama eligible educational institution beginning fall 2020
- Must be able to demonstrate financial need
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75
- Must have a maximum ACT score of 26 (applicants attending a two-year school will not be required to provide ACT scores)
The scholarship application is now available, but remember, you only have until 11:59pm on Thursday, February 27th to submit!
